Christmas Eve

Hello Everyone,

First, I have to apologize for neglecting the blog...procrastination gets me every time! It's Christmas Eve and I'm in sweet home Alabama with Ma - life is good. How are you guys doing? This year is just about over and, in spite of it all, it was a good year. Like one of my favorite dee jays says, it's better to be on top of the ground instead of the ground being on top of you.

For this Christmas, just about my entire family will be together on Saturday. The only ones missing are my oldest son, Dorian, and his family, and my oldest nephew, Jermaine, and his family. We'll be thinking about you guys and we miss you!!!

I'll keep this one short this time. I hope you and your families will have a blessed and beautiful Christmas. Say happy birthday and thank you to Jesus!

Countdown to the End of the Summer

Hello My Friends,

I first want to give thanks to God for ALL the blessings He's given me.

Hey, it's already August - where has the summer gone?

I want to start something new and give you my song of the month. I know that different parts of the country have different #1 songs, so tell me yours!

One of my favorite artists is T.K. Soul and my #1 southern soul song for this month is "Try Me." This ballad is so smooth and the lyrics make it seem as if he's singing right to you. "I can feel, it's the real thing..." will make your heart stop. I love this song.

For you r&b people, you have to listen to "Pretty Wings" by Maxwell. This southern soul girl likes all kinds of music and Maxwell is, and always has been, amazing. Turn this song up loud and listen to the instruments and his voice. Awesome!

Till the next time around...

Hotter Than July

What's going on my southern soul friends? Everything is everything (actually, it's everythang is everythang - lol).

Today is my day off from work and it feels great. I've been listening to southern soul music all day.

If you get tired of listening to regular FM radio, there are three stations I want you to check out.

The first is my favorite, probably because it's in Montgomery and it's what I listen to when I go home. It's WKXN-WKXY - go to www.wkxn.com. They play blues Monday - Friday from 6:00 - 10:00 am and again in the afternoon from 2:00 - 4:00 (Central time). The weekends are the best and they play blues all day. You definitely have to listen to the Lewis Dee Show from 6:00 - 10:00 a.m. (on the second, fourth, and fifth Saturdays). He has a great personality and plays wonderful music; he's awesome.

The second is www.southernsoulradio.com. They even have Mel Waiters as a dee jay on Friday nights!

The third is Chicos Radio.com. Their music is a little bit different than Southern Soul Radio but I love both stations because I get a more well rounded taste of good music!

I keep all three stations listed as my favorites. If you come to visit me, you'll hear one of them playing when you walk in the door.

OB Buchana said that he had to go back home because there wasn't any southern soul music up north. Well, he definitely has a point but what he may not know is that you don't have to depend on the radio stations anymore. With the internet, you can feel at home no matter where you are.

I just heard a song in which the girl said she had on her dancin' shoes and she was in a southern soul party mood. That would be me!

What's going on? I just spent a great Family Reunion weekend in Greensboro, North Carolina! The time went so quickly and it was wonderful seeing everyone. Now, it's time to get ready for the Bonhams in D.C.

I'm also waiting for Darius to be born!!!

I'll be on the road in the morning and, according to the weather forecast, there's only a slight chance of rain tomorrow - yahoo! :)

It's the end of the holiday weekend and time to get ready for the rest of the week. I find that I tend to live for the weekend, but in all reality, I have busy weekdays and life is good.

The thing I enjoy most is water aerobics. I usually take classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and they're a lot of fun. It's amazing the things you can do in water! It's a great workout and so much fun. I've met a lot of nice people and have had great instructors. The best part of class is the after party. Well, it's not really a party, but many of us head straight to the hot tub after class and enjoy ten fabulous minutes of heat. So good...

What do you do that you really like?
