Wendell B - "Still Learning Bout Love"

Learning About Love is beautiful.  I posted this not too long ago (https://southernsoulparadise.blogspot.com/2019/11/wendell-b-soul-music-representatives.html) and it's worth repeating.

Chuck Strong - "You Made a Change In Me"

Before the days of internet music, this is the type of music I would look for when I'd get to Alabama.  You know what I mean.  I could only hear it and buy it down south so I would hit the music stores as soon as I got here!!  It's pure southern soul!

Snatch Nelson - "Here's Another Party Song"

I don't know what it is but I LOVE this song!!!  It makes me want to dance!! Lewis Dee played it the other day and I can't get it out of my head.

If you want to get your dance on, here's another party song!  If you want to dance the night away, then party like it's a holiday!!! If you came here to have a good time, release some tension on your mind!

Oh yes!!

Tara Keith featuring Mose Stovall - "These Papers"

My, my, my!  What a sad but beautiful song.  This is a story about a wife who's had enough of her husband running around and has decided to get a divorce.  She has divorce papers ready but he still loves his wife and won't sign.  Relationships can be tough and its tough when you lose trust.  But I'm here to tell you that if you're ready to do the work, it can be done!  Tara and Mose are great together and this video is like a mini movie.  We all want the happy ending.

Jesse Graham - "I Lied"

This is a good, southern soul sounding song.  My kind of music.  This is how you feel when you find that right person - you just don't want anyone else!

Jesse told the fellas that he would never have just one.  He also told the guys that he was gonna die the number one player.  And out of nowhere, he said it ain't so easy to do, so to all he told it to - he lied!!

I found me a good thing, she knows how to make me feel good!!  I done slipped and fell in love!!

Audi Yo featuring Tucka/Tucka featuring Audi Yo

Audi Yo and Tucka are two awesome singers. Audi Yo's voice blends in so smoothly with Tucka's and, in fact, you sometimes have to listen closely to distinguish their voices.  They sound similar but are very different.  I've loved Tucka for years but there's something about Audi Yo!!!!!💖💖

I adore "Can't Nobody" and "Until The Morning Come."

I wanted to give you one song that is Audi Yo's featuring Tucka and the other song is Tucka's featuring Audi Yo.

Let me know what you think.

Marvin Sease - "Please Take Me"

I heard this song this morning and had to pass it along.  I posted it a long time ago but it's a classic and one of my favorite Marvin Sease songs.  I was going through a rough time when this came out and I could feel it every time he said "if there's anybody here who ain't got nobody, please take me!" lol  Great music.

Vick Allen - "Superstar"

An upbeat fun soulful classic that serves as an ode to all the hardworking women everywhere who get up every day, go to work and provide for their families!

He says doing it all by yourself ain't easy but you do what you got to do.  When life gets you down, you just hold your head high and remember what you are!!  Women, we are superstars!!

Ronnie Bell - "Love Ingredients (Frost Song)"

I LOVE this song by Ronnie Bell.  So I picked up the love ingredients, it can make any woman smile!  This is a really good song and, in my opinion, crossover r&b music - it ought to be played on ALL the radio stations.

Ronnie Bell - The Interview

Was so excited to be in Camden, Alabama, the other night so that I could attend the Ronnie Bell and Toia Jones blues show!!!  I loved it! There was a great crowd and I have to give props to Costee Jay from Montgomery's WZKD FM!!  He was the deejay/emcee for the night and not only was he very entertaining, he made the night fun.

You know Ronnie Bell from his great songs like "Cotton Candy" and "I'll Pay The Shipping Cost" and I love, love, love his new hit, "Love Ingredients." What a fantastic voice! During his show, Ronnie walked around shaking hands and giving hugs to all.  While performing Cotton Candy, he threw bags of cotton candy to people. He knows how to work his audience and did a great job mingling with the crowd.  It’s one of the many reasons I love blues shows because you get a chance to actually say hello to your favorite southern soul artists.

I was able to spend some time with Ronnie Bell and had the opportunity to ask him a few questions.  I found him to be a soft spoken guy with a kind spirit.  I get the feeling that he takes pride in what he’s doing and loves to sing music that matters.

A little about Ronnie Bell…
He’s from Walker, Louisiana, a small town about a half hour east of Baton Rouge.  He comes from a large family and is the oldest of seven brothers and four sisters.  He was raised in a house that listened to gospel music and he remembers singing in the church when he was only four years old.

He grew up on gospel music and enjoyed Hezekiah Walker, John P. Kee, and many other gospel artists.  But deep down, he always had a thing for old school music and listened to r&b singers such as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, and a lot of Motown.  To be a young guy, I asked about listening to the music of an earlier era and he said that he had uncles and others who got him into the music.  He loved history while he was growing up and Ronnie said that he would study these old school artists and learned as much as he could about them.  Their work inspired him.

Ronnie also said that he wanted to be a drummer and played for a little while but ended up as a singer.

Ronnie is an educated brother.  He got his BS and MS in Supply Chain Management from Southern University!  (I love education and talent in a man!)

His free time…
I asked Ronnie what he likes to do when he’s not on stage or performing.  He said that his greatest joy is to spend time with his family.  He’s a big movie buff and loves to watch adventure movies, sci-fi, drama, and the occasional chick flicks. Lol  He loves spending time with his kids playing video games and doing karaoke songs.

Advice for others…
If there was some advice he could pass to other aspiring singers, I asked him what he would like to say.  He said that you should be humble and, more than anything, make sure you’re producing the best quality of music you can.  Up and coming artists should do their research and find the right things that work for them.  He said to make music that means something!  Even if it’s dance music or something fun, it has to be real in order for it to last.  Lastly, don’t give up your day job while you’re pursuing your dream.  You need to have some income so you can hold down your house, pay your rent, eat, and take care of your kids.  Sometimes people get caught up in making quick money and give up their sure source of income.  Always have a back-up plan and give your music all you’ve got!

Ronnie is one of the few southern soul artists with his own website - check out: http://ronniebell.com!  His site contains more info about him and it also includes pictures, music, and much more.

I enjoyed doing this interview with Ronnie Bell!  I look forward to talking with him again and going to his show!
