Theodis Ealey - "I'm The Man You Need"
This sounds a lot like the ever-so-popular "Stand Up In It" (see my post dated 2/19/2012). So, I'll just say that this is a variation of a theme. I think Theodis is a super talented guitar player and we don't hear enough of what he can do.
Enjoy!

Charles Wilson - "What One Man Won't Do"
What one man won't do, another man will. So true, so true.
Chorus
What one man
won’t do, another man will
What one man
won’t do, another man will
What one man
won’t do, another man will
What one man
won’t do, another man will
My woman
told me
I’m tired of you doggin me
The way you
treat me
I wouldn’t treat
a dog that way
You say you
love me
But I can’t
tell baby
When a man
loves a woman
He treats
her like a lady
She said
when I need lovin’
You’re never
around
When my body
gets hot baby
I need a man
to love me up and down
Chorus
You always
promise me
You gonna
treat me right
Give me all
the love I can handle
Handle every
night
You keep
making a fool of me
And that ain’t
right baby
She said I need
a man at home with me
To give me
good lovin’ every night
When I need
lovin’
You never
around
She said
when my body gets hot baby
I need a man
to love me up and down
Chorus

Omar Cunningham - "Check To Check"
Now I know that just about everyone can relate to this song. Omar is struggling like all the rest of us and is just barely making it check to check. "Check To Check" was released back in 2003 on his "Hell In The House" CD. This verse is my favorite:
I'm trying my best cause I'm just making it check to check!

Sometimes my
pockets be empty and I just don’t know where I’m going to turn
Lights,
water, and gas are necessities
But I’m
busting my butt trying to get groceries
Soon as I get
money it leaves my hand
Tired of
wrapping up pennies and picking up cans
Cause what I
ain’t got, you sure can’t get
I’m trying
my best cause I’m just making it check to check
I'm trying my best cause I'm just making it check to check!

Sir Charles Jones - "On My Own Again"
Sir Charles Jones is such a talented singer and is one of the most steadily consistent southern soul singers out there. Almost everything he touches turns to gold. "On My Own Again" is a beautiful song about losing the one you love. He can't believe that things are over with his woman and that he's on his own again. You can feel his pain and his loneliness.
Sitting here crying, my eyes are red; sitting here crying, because I'm on my own again.
Enjoy!

I can’t
believe after all these years I’m on my own again
It’s finally
over baby
Though I’m
on my own again
Deep down in
my heart I wish you true love, my friend
Chorus
Said I’m on
my own again (4x)
Said I’m on
my own again
Girl I lost
my only friend
We’ve been
through some things
Ain’t meant
to be
Oh but I never
thought it’d be you and me
And I don’t
know just what to do
Can’t see
myself living life without you
But we got
to move on and still be friends
Can’t believe
I’m on my own again
Chorus
Oh I’ve been
crying so many tears
When I think
of all the many good years
That we
shared, shared together
Never thought
that we would see stormy weather
Sometimes it
seems like a bad dream
And I can’t
wake up from a mad dream
But we got
to move on and still be friends
I can’t
believe I’m on my own again
Chorus
Talking…
Chorus
Sitting here crying, my eyes are red; sitting here crying, because I'm on my own again.
Enjoy!

Betty Padgett - "Never Coming Home"
I love this song and the message Betty Padgett gives. She said that when you were out there spending money on all your women she was saving money for the days when her tears would stop. She left and told him that she's never coming home anymore She can make it on her own! I heard that!! See my post dated 2/20/2011, http://southernsoulparadise.blogspot.com/2011/02/never-coming-home.html.

Miz Goldie - "Why"
This is a beautiful ballad. You know all those times in your relationship when you ask yourself 'why?' Miz Goldie asks why she always loves so hard...why did things have to change when they should have stayed the same? She says that she asks herself these questions over and over again and the answer is always the same - the way she feels about her guy is the answer to why.
