Cathe's Countdown - WDLT 104.1 FM in Mobile February 28, 2015

I often listen to Mobile, Alabama's WDLT - 104.1FM - on Saturdays. They have an outstanding All Blues Saturday show and play great southern soul all day long - Nikki DeMarks is one of the best!
I was able to catch Cathe's Countdown today on WDLT.  This is Cathe B's list of top 10 southern soul songs for the week.  So, here they are...

Bobby "Blue" Bland - "This Time I'm Gone For Good"

Bobby "Blue" Bland - "Angel"

The legendary Bobby "Blue" Bland is such an amazing part of our musical history.  He passed in 2013 but his music is timeless and will live with us forever.  Here's "Angel," a song from his 1986 "After All" album; it's a simple but beautiful love song.  He tells this girl he's seeing for the first time just how beautiful she is, how everything about her is exciting, how he's fallen in love with a queen, and that it's like falling in love with a dream. Simone De - "What's Going On"

Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" has been beautifully done by Simone De. A native of Mobile, Alabama, he has emerged as one of the great artists from the Gulf coast.  I'm looking forward to so much more coming from this fabulous man.
