Dr. Nick, Southern Soul Rumpin', and Black Music Month

Dr. Nick has the best southern soul show in the D.C. area!  His Southern Soul Rumpin’ Show airs from noon to 2pm EST each Saturday afternoon on WPFW 89.3 FM.  It’s a wonderful show and he plays southern soul music which is growing in popularity throughout the country.  I love it!  He also happens to be the main, if not only, source of southern soul music in the area.   In addition to playing great music, he gives us a lot of information and his show includes fabulous interviews with many of our living legends, such as Bigg Robb.  Dr. Nick is one of the hardest working music personalities in the area and Southern Soul Rumpin’ introduces a lot of new listeners to our genre and gives all the rest of us southern soul music lovers the fix we need for the week.

June is Black Music Month and Dr. Nick will spotlight a different theme every week this month, starting next weekend, June 13.  I can’t wait to hear his plans for the remaining Saturdays in June.

In case you didn’t know, Black Music Month is a month-long observance that was first created on June 7, 1979, by President Jimmy Carter. President Barack Obama renamed the national observance as African-American Music Appreciation Month. The observance was created to recognize and celebrate the historical influence African-Americans have had on the music industry and is intended to pay homage to the many artists, writers, songs and albums that have inspired music lovers and shaped American pop culture.

There are so many ways to listen to Dr. Nick and his Southern Soul Rumpin’ Show at noon every Saturday.  You can turn to 89.3 FM if you’re in the DMV area, go to Facebook Live (on his Facebook page), go to WPFW’s site at https://wpfwfm.org/radio/, connect to TuneIn (https://tunein.com/radio/WPFW-893-s21921/), go to your Echo (tell Alexa to turn to WPFW 89.3), or use any other way you can think to listen to music!  Whichever way you listen, you will love this fabulous show.  Thank you Dr. Nick!!
