Tyree Neal - "Bring It On Home"

After so many years with my sidepiece, I just want my baby back..... Well, he does admit that he cheated and shouldn't have lied; shouldn't have come home with an alibi.  Ok, he knows he was wrong.  I don't know, I think I'd have to think mighty hard about taking him back. lol  I still like this song -no, I love this song!!  It's pretty smooth and I like Tyree's voice.  Kind of easy to sing along with him. 😊

"Bring It On Home" is taken from Tyree Neal's 2015 "I'll Be The Other Man" album.

Simone De - "Something to Talk About"

I'm a big Simone De fan and here's his latest single that has also been on WDLT's top ten countdown for the last few weeks.  I love the melody, the beginning kind of reminds you of  R. Kelly's step song but the rest is all Simone De.  This is a love song; he falls for this girl who's on the dance floor even though he doesn't know her name.  They seem to have a strong connection and you know how it is when people see what you have with someone else - they all want to talk about you even though they don't have a clue.  So, he says let's give them something to talk about!

A nice dance/step song!

Denise LaSalle - "Paper Thin"

This is one of the saddest and prettiest songs I've heard. This married girl is in a hotel room with another guy and her husband is in the room next door.  Kind of reminds you of Z.Z. Hill's "Cheatin' In The Next Room," doesn't it??  But her husband is with another woman because she doesn't love him anymore and he knows that she's messing around with a guy named Joe. You get the feeling that he is tired of being lonely and hurt.  He even says that he's going to go out and find somebody so he can get what his wife is giving away. I think he needed someone to help ease his pain.  The saddest line to me is when he lets his girlfriend know that he won't even miss his wife as long as she keeps loving him.  Sometimes we don't realize what we've done or what we've lost until it's too late. Wake up if this song applies to you!

"Paper Thin" is taken from Denise's 1990 "Still Trapped" album.  Here are the lyrics:

I woke up crying to voices soft and low
And the sound of sweet love making coming from the room next door
I heard him say, baby, I ain't felt so good in such a long, long time
You see I've been having this problem with that unfaithful wife of mine

Chorus
You see the walls were paper thin in the motel that I was in
And suddenly an old familiar sound turned my world upside down

I heard him say now I know I'm a good man
But my wife acts like she wants to be free, well
I had a feeling she was loving somebody
Cause she sho ain't been giving it to me
And then I heard him say life is much too short to worry
So I made up my mind today to go out and find myself somebody
So I can get what she's been giving away

Chorus

I heard him say, slow down and take your time
We don't have to hurry, tonight is yours and mine
You see my wife don't love me no more
She's out right now with a guy named Joe
That's when I knew why I was crying
You see I heard my husband say
That's alright, I won't even miss her as long as you keep loving me this way

Chorus

The chorus is beautiful!

Jureesa McBride - The Soulful Superstar: The Woman Behind The Music

Image result for jureesa mcbride
Jureesa McBride has the voice of an angel.  I’ve had the pleasure of communicating with the very talented Jureesa and I can tell you that not only does she have a beautiful voice, she also has a kind, good, caring heart.  I’ve learned a few things about this wonderful artist and would like to share them with you.  By the time you finish reading this, you’ll know a little about the woman behind the music.

Jureesa was born in Port Gibson/Pattison, Mississippi, and grew up listening to a variety of music.   Her bio says that she listened to music on an eight-track player while her dad fumbled around under the hood of his old car.  Now that is old school!!  Ms. McBride was an artist at an early age and started writing poetry, singing her own penned songs, and acting in a children’s theater when she was only nine years old.  What were you doing at nine?  Let’s see, I think the only things I had on my mind were dolls, skating, and more dolls. lol

Jureesa has only been singing professionally about five years but she has had a passion for music as long as she can remember.  And this Mississippi girl can sing!  She originally blew me away with Super Mistress and Karma (She’ll Take Care of You) and her “Call Me Crazy” single is excellent and playing all over the world (including the U.K. and South Africa).

Jureesa says that she loves the soul of the music and the way that blues tells a story.  And stories, most definitely, are in southern soul music!  She’s been nominated for several music awards and has won a few but she says that she finds joy in touching others through her stories.  And to me, that is real success. When the words you sing, the words you write, or the music you play touches someone, then you’ve done your job.  That’s what true artists do!

What you may not know about Jureesa is that she is so much more than a singer or performer; she’s an advocate for domestic violence.  She wants to teach young people about loving themselves and leave a legacy one day far beyond the reach of her children.  She also wants to show others that it’s ok to be different from everyone else, especially in the field of music.  I am always impressed with those who truly want to give back to others and make this world a better place.

She has two albums – “Woman First (Tales From The Duchess)” and “Personal Love Vendetta.”  Check out the awesome video below for her “Call Me Crazy” single!

Buy her CDs and check out her website at http://theduchessjureesa.weebly.com.

As you can see below, I’ve been writing about Jureesa McBride for awhile now.  I love her music!!

World, stay tuned for more music coming in the future from this wonderful superstar, Jureesa McBride!!💕

Crystal Thomas - "Country Gurl"

Different regions and areas in the south play different blues and southern soul music.  It's one of the many reasons I listen to so many stations - I can get a lot of variety. "Country Gurl" is something I heard the other night on WVFG 107.5 FM in Uniontown, Alabama. It's one of those songs that I liked right away, probably because it sounds like true southern soul.  Since WVFG doesn't have a live dee jay on the air in the early morning (like 3:00 in the morning) to tell me the name of a song/artist, I end up asking Siri who's singing a song. Hey, it works for me most of the time. lol

WVFG is a great station and while many of the local stations mix a lot of r&b hits with the blues, WVFG plays more blues than anything. Especially throughout the middle of the night.  Unfortunately, they don't stream online so I can only listen to the station when I'm actually in that part of Alabama.  I hope they'll get on iHeart or TuneIn or something soon!

Here's a song from Crystal Thomas about why you need a country girl - I know that's the truth!!

Miss Lady Blues - "Beat Beat"

This is a story about a lady who falls in love with a guy half her age. She said that she never thought a young man could teach her anything when it came to love.  He treats her right, wants to be good to her, and gives her much respect - this guy seems to be everything a woman could want.  Hey, I want him! lol  Miss Lady Blues is awesome!!!

Girl I can't explain, something about his name, makes my heart go beat beat.

Here's the chorus:
The mention of his name turns the flicker into a flame
That makes my heart go beat beat, sho nuff good to me
Feel it in my toes, makes me want to lose control
Makes my heart go beat beat
That's the man for me!

Got it jumping, heart is thumping!!

Otis Redding, III - "Dance, Dance, Dance"

"Dance, Dance, Dance" is a great dance song by Otis Redding, III, and the music and lyrics are kind of addictive.  This guy just wants to dance with the girl!  This has a nice soul/southern soul feel and is the song when you want to hear when you go to the house party, cabaret, club, or wherever you're going to party!

Otis Redding, III, is the son of the legendary Otis Redding (who happened to record a ton of wonderful music, including the famous "Sitting On The Dock of The Bay").  Here is a little bit of info about Otis Redding, III:
Legendary soul singer Otis Redding left his son with a musical
heritage that extends far beyond the hit records for which he is famous.

Indeed, Otis Redding III has been bestowed with his father’s unique
musical gift, and for nearly 25 years has put this talent to good use
by not only touring and performing, but also writing and arranging
since the early 80's.

Read more of his bio at his website: http://www.otisreddingiii.com/bio.html.  I'm looking forward to hearing more from this great artist!
