This is Part III in my series on Big Yayo. I titled it "Upwards and Onwards" because it depicts his positive outlook on life and everything.
Big Yayo - The Interview - "Upwards and Onwards"
Before I closed the interview with Big Yayo, I asked him what he wanted people to know about him. He said that he is an advocate for upward mobility; upward mobility done the right way. He said that everyone has dreams and aspirations but you have to actively try to make those dreams come true. You can’t want the dream and do nothing to get it. What I took away from that is a lesson for all of us. You have to put in the work for anything you want. So often we wait for things to come to us and then we wonder why we don't have them. You have to actively go after the things in life you want.
Big Yayo is such a positive person. He says that you really don’t have to create a lot of drama to get what you want out of life. One of his motto’s is ‘upwards and onwards.’ He also says that his mother taught him to place value on what’s valuable to you. (That was actually an epiphany for me.)
Big Yayo said that wanted to be in A&R. He likes to take something like an artist no one has heard of and develop that person. So what is A&R? A&R stands for Artists and Repertoire. The is the division of a record label that is responsible for talent scouting and the artistic and commercial development of the recording artist. It also acts as a liaison between the artist and the record label. Big Yayo is doing this with the talent he's finding and producing.
Here’s something you may not know about Big Yayo and I really thought his fans would want to know. He reads a lot. He reads scientific books, self-help ones every now and then, books that provoke thought, and realistic stories about people who have overcome odds and accomplished goals. Big Yayo, a smart, intelligent, and educated brother.
The more I talk to Christopher Mabry, the more I love this talented, rising young artist. He's a jewel in the music industry and I'm looking forward to what the future holds for him.
