Johnnie Taylor - "I'm Changing

It's Friday morning and I'm in a Johnnie Taylor kind of mood.

I'm changing, rearranging my life.  I'm getting rid of my woman and stop cheating on my wife!  Johnnie says that only a fool is a fool all his life.  And he asks, what do you need with a woman when you got a good wife?  Yep, he says he's been greedy.  Say it, JT, say it!!

SIR CHARLES JONES & JETER JONES AKA "THE JONES BOYZ"

The Jones Boys- Sir Charles Jones & Jeter Jones- have again been everywhere in 2020. Not only did they each release a new album (Sir Charles Jones "Intimacy", Jeter Jones "Mufassa") but they also released a collaborative album under the moniker "The Jones Boyz", which is also the name of their label. The album was called "2 Kings", which is not an exaggeration. They each also guested on a host of tracks. So much so it's hard to keep track!

Jesse Graham - A Wonderful Super Star!

My featured artist for today is Jesse Graham!  I have been listening to him for years and have been a huge fan forever.

Jesse Graham was born in Trenton, New Jersey, and raised in rural north east Georgia.  He is a trained vocalist and songwriter and has been singing, recording, producing, and performing for over 20 years.  Jesse’s life changed over the years and while he still records music, he is also an ordained pastor and Evangelical preacher.  His nonprofit organization, New Day Worldwide, was established to help youth learn about music production and help them develop their projects.

The first Jesse Graham song I ever heard was Mr. Mailman – I still love that song. He’s recorded a lot of music but I Lied, Same Place/Same Time, Love Talk, Lovers Before Friends, and especially the awesome Think About My Baby all feel like southern soul and are examples of wonderful music.

He has a beautiful voice and his music is timeless.  In addition, Jesse also runs the Summer Youth Camp Mission in Azusa, California.  Jesse’s purpose is to keep our children off the streets and lead them to a better life. He says that hopefully, someday, those same children will be able to give back to the next generation and the next, in a perpetual cycle of giving.

Jesse Graham is still recording!  Check out his version on Youtube of Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together:” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9ags-W0_fI)

Jesse Graham’s music and his desire to devote his life to our youth make him a star in my eyes.

Check out Jesse Graham’s website: http://www.newdayworldwide.yolasite.com

Many thanks to Lewis Dee for playing this beautiful version of "You're Gonna Make Me Cry!"  I had never heard it done by the Staples Singers!  Now that's music!!!

I didn't realize so many people recorded this song - O.V. Wright, Ann Peebles, Shirley Brown, Little Milton, Z.Z. Hill, and I know there are more.

Here's O.V. Wright's version:
