Grady Champion - "Move Something"

Grady Champion is a great artist and I know we'll keep hearing more from him. In "Move Something," Grady says that if you don't know how to dance, all you got to do is get up and move something!

He's been singing awhile and listed below is a short piece of his bio as taken from his website.  See his full bio at www.gradychampion.com.

Grady Champion was born Oct. 10, 1969 and grew up on a farm in Canton, MS within a religious household. The youngest of his father’s 28 children, he joined his church choir at the age of eight and realized his passion for music. When he was 15, he and his family moved to Miami, FL, but he only attended high school there for a year before moving back to Mississippi to graduate.
Grady returned to Florida at the age of 18 and started in the music industry as a promoter for the rap label Sun Town Records. By the early 90s he embarked on a brief career as a rapper, performing under the moniker MC Gold. However, he soon discovered that he had a natural talent for the blues, and he incorporated hip-hop into blues music. At the age 24, he worked for FJH Music, owner Frank J. Hackinson, once President of Columbia Pictures, for 5 years; learning the ins and outs of the music business as he worked to build his career as an entertainer/musician. In 1998, after learning to play the harmonica, Grady released his first album, the self-released Goin’ Back Home.

J. Blackfoot (featuring Archie Love) - "Same Woman"

I love all of J. Blackfoot's music and here's one I just heard this morning.  It's "Same Woman" by J. Blackfoot featuring Archie Love but I've also seen it listed as being by Archie Love featuring J. Blackfoot.  Archie has it on his 2004 "Sincerely Yours" album and J. has it on his 2006 "It Ain't Over Till It's Over" album.

As you know, J. Blackfoot was a former singer of the great group, The Soul Children.  They had so much fantastic music.  But did you know that Archie Love became a drummer for The Soul Children when he was only 18???  J. spent some time as the lead singer for the Bar-Kays after most of the group was killed in a plane crash and some years later, Archie was approached by the Bar-Kays to be a lead vocalist on their single, “You're My Joy.” Amazing - these two men had some cool history!

Enjoy!

Big Ro Williams - "Good For The Gander"

Big Ro Williams currently has a southern soul hit that's been on the top ten chart for the last few weeks - "Good For The Gander." (Listen below.)  I didn't know much about the artist so I went to his website (http://bigrowilliamsmusic.webs.com/) and cut/pasted his interesting bio - see below (what a cute smile!!!):

BIG RO WILLIAMS

Roosevelt Williams is a multi-talented singer, song writer, producer, and drummer. He was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He, like many other musicians developed his love for music in the church. Roosevelt was only 7 years old when he began performing. He was greatly influenced by his mother, Brenda Williams, and uncle, Ronald Miller, who played drums for Bill Pinkney and the Original Drifters and his God brother Sir Charles Jones.

Following college Roosevelt, now known as “Big Ro Williams” entered the world of hip hop. He later reconnected with high school friend, southern soul artist Sir Charles Jones. Sir Charles convinced Big Ro Williams to focus on southern soul music and join him on the road. Being on tour fueled the fire for Big Ro to emerge from the back ground and grab the spot light.

Soon after going solo Big Ro Williams completed his first project, a 5 song EP named “Good Love Muscle.” All 5 songs were met with good reviews and have been receiving airplay. He is currently collaborating with Keith Ruff on his next project.

Big Ro Williams has been in the music business as a solo artist for just a couple years and is taking the southern soul world by storm. He has endless energy and enthusiasm, a true entertainer. Big Ro has the ability to get any party started, he can get a crowd dancing, and he always leaves them wanting more! Many have started referring to him as the “Big Daddy of Southern Soul.”

As his popularity increases he remains humble and more focused than ever. Big Ro Williams stays true to his faith and believes “failure is not an option.”

Check out his website:  http://bigrowilliamsmusic.webs.com/

Here's "Good For The Gander!!"

Enjoy!!

Luther Lackey - "Scared of Gettin' Caught"

Luther Lackey starts this song by telling us that there was a woman he knew who she said she wanted a piece of him.  She said she didn't care if he was married or shacking with his girlfriend.  She just didn't care. You've got to listen to the lyrics of the song and see what he has to deal with. Guys, you probably face situations like this all the time but you should be afraid of these women - there's no telling what they'll do to mess up things for you. Luther's not crazy, he says he wasn't try to lose the good woman he has.

You should be very afraid!! lol

This is a cool, realistic song...I like it!! lol

Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday - Mel Waiters, William Bell, and Johnnie Taylor

Here are three absolutely great Throwback Thursday classic songs. The first is Mel Waiters' "Got My Whiskey."  I almost feel like crying every time I hear this, it's one of my most favorite Mel Waiters' songs and it makes me think about how much I miss him.  The second is William Bell's "Trying To Love Two."  This always brings back many memories when I hear it - I love it.  And last, but certainly not least, is Johnnie Taylor....because I can't have a TBT without Johnnie Taylor. lol His "After Hour Joint" is beautiful.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Lomax - "Watch It Shake"

Man, do I love this song!!!!  Lomax has done it again and has another hit on his hands. The melody and beat are fantastic and this song would be awesome at the club or for a house party. The lyrics are definitely for grown folks though so you may not want to play it around or have to explain it to your kids...ummm....let me hit it from the back and watch it shake...

Lavish Truesoul - "If I Was Your Man"

"If I Was Your Man" is a popular song by Lavish Truesoul and is getting a lot of airplay in south central Alabama. It has a nice, catchy beat.  He says that if you were his man, he'd never do you wrong, he'd never leave you alone....and then he talks about all of the things he would do.

Here's Lavish Truesoul's bio as taken from CD Baby (I really wanted to make some editorial changes to this content but left it alone and copied it verbatim from the CD Baby site):
Lavish Truesoul is a artist who was introduced to soul music at a early age. Getting his first break with local rap artist Kuzy K where he used his soulful voice on hooks and songs on many differnt artist in the surrounding area.He was greatly influence by legendary soul men Bobby Wommack,Marvin Sease,Tyrone Davis,Donny Hathaway,Johny Taylor ,and Anthony Hamilton . He now travels city to city putting that soul in the air and keeping a dyeing art alive, true soul music.
