Dee Bradley - "How Did I Wake Up To A Stranger"

What a sad but beautiful song.  You know, you can go through life and wake up one day and realize that you don't even know your wife/husband.  Dee Bradley wondered how she stopped loving him after all those years.  When did she change her mind?

We were friends who fell in love
Back when we were full of dreams
Always together you and I
Yes we were
In your eyes I would lose myself
And in your heart you said there was no one else
I don’t know why
Why I feel so alone even though we’re both here at home

How did I wake up to a stranger
After all these years
How did I wake up to a stranger
I don’t know you, you don’t know me
We’re just strangers
Where did we go wrong baby

Now day by day we have less to say
Talking now is a strain
I don’t remember when we changed
Only love makes you feel alive
Without a warning it will make you curl up and cry
After all, all that we have shared
It’s so hard to believe you don’t care

O. B. Buchana - "Hold on to What You Got"

I love this song.  O.B. says that you need to hold on to what you got because the grass isn't always greener on the other side - it just looks that way.  He makes a statement that what is old to you is brand new to someone else. Think about it. You've gotten bored with your spouse/significant other and stop doing the things you used to do.  Be careful when you start thinking like that because someone else may be looking at her or him and see all the great things you used to see.

"Hold On To What You Got" is taken from O.B.'s “Starting Over” CD.  Here is his bio (taken from Soul Blues Music:

Born in Mound Bayou, Mississippi, Buchana spent his childhood in Clarksdale. O.B. began singing when he was only eight in the gospel choir at his Baptist church. By the time he was a teenager, the gospel group – “Mighty Suns Of God” - selected him to be their lead singer. In the early 1990's, O.B. signed with the record label -Blue River - and recorded his first hit single, "Back Up Lover." His first disc, "It's Over," followed to critical acclaim. Next, he signed with Suzie Q Records for "I Got Caught." His career has truly taken off after signing with Ecko Records.

Nellie "Tiger" Travis - "Good Lovin Daddy"

You know that I'm a Nellie "Tiger" Travis fan and "Good Lovin' Daddy" is a song that I LOVED from the first note; it can be found on her "Wanna Be With You" CD.  This is awesome southern soul music!

Charles Wilson - "Mississippi Boy," Sir Charles Jones - "Country Boy," and Denise Lasalle - "Mississippi Woman"

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and with that said, here are three versions of the same song.  I just heard this one by Charles Wilson, had posted the one by Sir Charles Jones a little while ago, and then there's Denise LaSalle's "Mississippi Woman." All three are pretty good.

Rosalyn Candy - "Stroke It"

This is a live version of this song (and the quality's not all that great) but I absolutely love this record. It's one of those songs that didn't do anything for me at first.  But then, the stations kept playing it and the more I heard it, the more I liked it. I've never heard of Rosalyn Candy but I'm looking forward to more of her music.

(P.S. 1/26/2017 - I updated the youtube attachment.)

Buddy Ace - "Pouring Water on a Drowning Man" and "It Don't Hurt No More"

I love Buddy Ace's music.  Here's a copy of his bio from Wikipedia and two of my favorite songs from him - "Pouring Water On A Drowning Man" and "It Don't Hurt No More."

Buddy Ace (November 11, 1936 – December 26, 1994) was an American blues singer, known as the "Silver Fox of the Blues." His best known tracks were "Root Doctor" and "Pouring Water on a Drowning Man". Born James Lee Land in Jasper, Texas, United States, he was raised in Baytown, Texas, and began his singing career by singing gospel in a group that included Joe Tex. He joined up with other blues singers, Bobby "Blue" Bland and Junior Parker, before signing to Duke/Peacock Records in 1955. His hits included "Nothing In the World Can Hurt Me (Except You)", which reached Number 25 in 1966. His second and last hit in the R&B charts was in the following year, "Hold On (To This Old Fool)", which made Number 33. In the late 1960s, he moved to California and continued to perform on live shows.  Buddy Ace died of a heart attack aged 58, while performing in Waco, Texas in December 1994.
