Avail Hollywood - "Sinking in Quick Sand"

Wonderful song Avail!!!

Here's a short film/story about Avail and the fact that his wife wants to divorce him; you can see he doesn't want this.  The neighbors got the divorce papers from the mailman and gave them to him.   He now regrets everything he's done to his wife and tells us that you don't miss your water until your well runs dry.  Now he feels like he's sinking in quick sand.  Fellas, women usually do this when they can't take it any more.

The moral of the story - wake up and straighten up before it's too late!  You may lose everything.

WBFZ 105.3 Selma, Alabama

When I'm near Selma, Alabama, one of my go-to stations is WBFZ 105.3 FM: the Heart, Mind and Soul of the Blackbelt.  They are finally online which is great and means that you can listen anytime, anywhere.  Now if WVFG 107.5 in Uniontown would get online....

Here's the link:http://newz1053radio.com/.

For those of you who've been around awhile, you can listen to Rockin' Jeter, Selma's Soul Leader! I've been listening to him for more than 40 years - he's still kicking - yay!!!

P.S.  Looks like the station may be offline sometimes - I don't know their schedule.

J. Red - "We'll Be Alright"

J. Red sings this love song so beautifully.  It's the kind of soul song you hear and think that it's oh so wonderful to still hear music like this.  J. Red sings of hope and shows that when things happen in relationships (and they will), you can make it.

Everything will be all right, everything will be ok, we just have to find a way to hold on to each other.

Till 1 - "Can I Be"

I've posted this before but I think it is so pretty and worth posting again.

Can we keep it on the low
No one has to know
What we do in the middle of the night, girl
Only you should know...

Z. Z. Hill - "It Ain't No Use"

How many of you remember this?  I LOVED this song - and still do! I heard it a few minutes ago and had to share it.  This 1971 hit is taken from Z. Z. Hill's The Brand New Z.Z. Hill album.  "It Ain't No Use" is one of those songs you hear and immediately remember what you were doing in your life when it came out.

There ain't no use for you to cry
You might as well dry your eyes
You hurt me so, now I want you to know
It ain't no use, it ain't no use
There was a time you were my pride and joy
Woman I loved you like a child loves his toy
You done me wrong, you want to come back home
It ain't no use
I wanted you but you wanted someone else
You went away and left me
Left me all by my-
Left me all by my-
Left me all by myself
Now it's your time to cry!

Check out my post from 2016: http://southernsoulparadise.blogspot.com/2016/10/z-z-hill-second-chance-and-it-aint-no.html.

You done me wrong, now you want to come back home, but it's too late!

Lynn White with Willie Clayton - "Slow & Easy/Take Me To The Mountain Top"

It's Sunday night and I must be in a throwback mood.  This is another one of my all-time favorites and here is a copy of the 7:35 minute version.  It's one of those songs that I get all caught up in and can feel all the way to my soul.  Yeah, I know that's corny, but it's true.

Lynn White and Willie Clayton are wonderful together.  My favorite line is "love me till my heart stops."

Take me to the mountain top
Make me high
Love me till my heart stops
I don't care, just let me down
Whatever it is that you're doing to me, Willie
I don't want you to never, never stop
You got me hooked on you, like a junkie I'm strung out on you.
Baby, honey, sugar...

Lying right here beside you honey is as close to heaven as I want to be!
