Z. Z. Hill - "Cheatin' In The Next Room"

This is another Z. Z. Hill classic.  I love this song; it's been imitated by many but this will always be my favorite version.  Can you imagine the hurt and shock when you find out that your significant other is making plans to meet someone else?  Playing the cheating game only leads to hurt and pain - amen brother!!
Enjoy!

Z Z Hill - "Down Home Blues"

Talk about classics!!!  This is it.  "Down Home Blues" is one of the most well-known blues songs around - if you don't believe me, ask somebody!

She said your party's jumping
And everybody's havin' a good time
And you know what's going through my mind
Do you mind if I get comfortable

And kick off these shoes
While you're fixing me a drink
Play me some of them down home blues

She say you know I don't get out much on the town
And you know I done cut out a lot of that running around
All week long

I've been keeping my cool
But tonight I'm gonna let my hair down
And get down with these down home blues

Chorus
Down home blues (down home blues)
Down home blues (down home blues)
All she wanted to hear was some down home blues
All night long

Every other record or two
She said take off those fast records
And let me hear some down home blues

You said you know my ol' man gonna wanna fight
Because of the hour I'll be getting in tonight
But I don't care, tonight I'm gonna do as I choose
I'm gonna get my head banged
And party off these down home blues

Chorus

Enjoy!!

Ronnie Lovejoy - "Cheating On Me"

Ronnie was suspicious of a lot of things that were going on in his house and he knew his woman was cheating on him.  I think she was pretty bold and did him so wrong but he seemed to get great joy out of getting revenge. Now, I don't think two wrongs make a right, but they say all is fair in love and war.  Always trust your instincts!!

I was coming home from work one day
And as I walked up to my front door
A man walked out of my house
A man I never seen before

He just smiled at me and kept on going
I really didn’t understand
So I asked my baby, I said honey, who was that
She said oh that’s just the insurance man

It’s just something that I’m feeling
And the feeling won’t let me be
And I know the feeling is real
Oh I believe my baby’s cheating on me

So I went on to sleep that night
But I woke up early, went to the kitchen for a drink
When I got to the kitchen ya’ll the back door closed
And my woman, she was standing by the sink
I know I wasn’t crazy, something was going on
And it was really getting out of hand
So I asked my baby who just walked out the door
She said oh that’s just the cable tv man

It’s just something that I feel
And the feeling won’t let me be
I believe I’m getting a raw deal
I believe my baby’s cheating on me

So my woman went to visit her mother far away
And I surprised her when she walked in
She saw a woman eating popcorn and watching tv
On the sofa in the den
She raised so much hell till her wig fell off
I laughed so hard I just couldn’t hold it in
Then she turned around and asked me
She said Ronnie, I want to know who’s that woman
I said the Avon lady and by the way, she'll be moving in

It’s just something that she can feel
I know it’s something that she can see
All the time she was giving me a raw deal

I knew the girl was cheating on me

She raised so much hell that her wig fell off!

Nellie "Tiger" Travis - "Mr. Sexy Man"

Mr. Sexy Man is the song you want to hear at the club, cabaret, house party, or wherever you want to dance. I can even overlook the ebonic phrase in the chorus - what your name is - cause I really like this song! It has a great melody which makes it easy to sing along with her.  Good southern soul.

I've been hearing this record on the radio but I have to give a special thanks to Dex Williams who passed this along and says that Nellie Travis Tiger's new CD titled "Keep On Moving" will be released soon. Be on the look out for it!

I saw you when you stepped into the club
The way you walk, the way your body moves
I was out there dancing on the floor
I was out of step cause I was watching you
You one fine sexy looking man
Standing over there with that Hennessey in your hand
I’m looking at you, you’re looking at me
I’m thinking about the possibilities

Chorus
Hey Mr. Sexy Man
What your name is, what your name is
Hey Mr. Sexy Man
What your name is, what your name is

I had to come and ask you for a dance
You know this Tiger had to take a chance
I just love the smell of your cologne
Man you got me hot you really turn me on
Around here dancing on the floor
Arms around my waist, baby I want some more
I’m staring at you, you’re staring at me
I’m thinking about the possibilities

Chorus

I like the way you feel baby when you’re up on me
Got my hormones jumping I feel your energy
I like your freaky dancing, you’re really throwing down
You make me feel so good baby
Let me turn around

Chorus
I'm staring at you, you're staring at me
I'm thinking about the possibilities  (oh yeah!)

Tyrone Davis - "Could I Forget You"

This is an oldie but goodie and a song from Tyrone is always good!!

Oh I guess this is the end of the line
Girl my mind is completely made up
Because only a fool would stay
Knowing one day you might get hurt
But even when things for me was looking bad
Girl I held my head up high
And then I asked myself
And then I asked myself
Could I forget you if I really tried
Or would I be loving you till the day I die

Oh it seems like only yesterday you said you loved me
But girl you went and hurt me over and over again
Ooh but deep down inside I knew that I
Would lose your sweet loving in the end
But I put all of my pride deep in my pocket
As I dried my tear-filled eyes
And then I asked myself
And then I asked myself
Could I forget you if I tried
Or would I be loving you till the day I die

What you trying to do to me baby
Oh I love you
Why you do this to me baby

Girl you made me change my mind
You even made me turn back the hands of time
Oh I’ll be right here
Holding on for your sweet loving baby
All you got to do is tell me
That the waiting’s not in vain
Could I forget you if I tried...

Tucka - "Don't Make Me Beg"

I love this talented young guy.  When I hear this song, it shows me just how passionate our men can be.  We forget that they love and hurt as deeply as we do.  He says that if he has to beg, he'll get down on his knees and stay there!  Listen to Tucka, the King of Swing!

I remember when it was us
Remember the day we fell in love
I still dream the day we kissed
That’ll be a day I’ll truly miss

Chorus
Cause now you’re gone
Girl don’t you miss me just a little bit
Baby please
I don’t know if I can live like this
Things ain’t been right ever since we split
Tell me baby do I have to break down and beg
Just to get you to come back my way
Just need you to say it’s gonna be okay

Don’t tell me I have to beg
Cause on my knees Lord I will stay
Steady wiping the tears from my face
Can’t believe you’re gonna let me cry
Asking myself girl, why oh why
I need you to come back home
I’ve been all alone

Chorus

Baby please, don’t make me beg
After all we’ve been through
You gonna treat me this way
I can’t see you with another
I can’t be with another
Don’t make me cry
Don’t make me cry

Chorus
Girl, don't you miss me just a little bit???

Tony Troutman - "Your Man Is Home Tonight"

He says he's a long way from his lady and he can always feel her presence - he doesn't care how far he goes away from this girl!  He says he's going to take the tension off her because he's on his way. Sounds like a mighty confident man to me!!

Hey baby, honey I’m on the way
It ain’t gonna take long, no no
Ooh just one more day
Can you hold yourself together
And remember that I’m your fella
And when we make love tonight
We won’t be dreaming
Girl we’ll be together
We’re gonna make love all night
Until the morning light
We can do no wrong baby
Cause I’m home tonight

Chorus
Yes your man is home
Your man is home tonight
Yes your man is home
Your man is home tonight

I’m so glad to be near you
Oh how I long for your touch
I need your lovin' so badly
Girl I can’t never get enough
Touch me baby
And you send chills up and down my spine
I know you got what it takes for me baby
I’m gonna love you till the end of time
We’re gonna make love all night
Until the morning light
We can do no wrong cause I’m home tonight

Chorus

You’re so satisfying
And everything you do
Tonight when we make love baby
Girl I know I won’t turn you a loose…......

And when we make love tonight we won't be dreaming!!!
Enjoy!
