Dr. Nick's Most Requested Songs of 2016

Dr. Nick of Washington, D.C.’s WPFW had a fantastic "Southern Soul Rumpin'" show today and played this year’s top most requested songs.  Some of these great songs were:

“Hell To The Naw” by Bishop Bulwinkle
“Sweet It Be” by Wilson Meadows
“Please Don’t Judge Me” by Bigg Robb
“Honey Hole” by Vickie Baker
"Man's World" by Shay Denise
"Do You Want to Party" by Steve Perry
“My Man Is A Full Grown Dog” by Jessi Terrell
"Good Thang" by J. Red

In addition to the music, Dr. Nick did a great interview with one of my favorite artists, Pat Cooley.

Check out Dr. Nick’s “Southern Soul Rumpin’” show from 2 – 4pm EST every Saturday afternoon.  If you’re in the DC area, listen to 89.3FM (WPFW).  You can also listen online at http://wpfwfm.org/radio/ and my most favorite way to tune into his show is via Facebook Live on Nick Johnson’s page!!

Happy New Year!!

Moses Blu - "Get Whatcha Get"

I love this slow song that has a great message; he's learned how to be a better man.  Moses Blu says that if you keep doing what you're doing, you're going to get what you get.  It's a crazy world out there and you ain't seen nothing yet. If you don't change your ways, what are you going to regret?  So true, so true!!

I'm looking for info about this artist and will post it as soon as I find it.

Enjoy!

Lacee - "Whose Is It?"

Was so glad to hear Lacee's new song.  She has a great voice and a fantastic range.  Here's her latest single - "Whose Is It?" (Sorry, can't help it, I changed it from 'who's' to 'whose'...) She has an interesting story in the song; it has a nice beat and catchy lyrics.  I love it!!!!

Enjoy!!

Congrats to Ves/Kenne Wayne for "We Do We" at the number one slot!!  This song goes up and down and is still rolling!  What's amazing to me is that it was released back in 2014 and I wrote about it in 2015 (http://southernsoulparadise.blogspot.com/2015/05/kenne-wayne-we-do-we.html). Keep up the great work!

Marvin Sease - "Do It Tonight"

Everyone needs a Marvin Sease ballad every now and then!!  The man was a great performer and I love his music.  Ok, Marvin's wife just took his kids and left him and now he's hurting and lonely and needs someone.  This is definitely a begging song. lol  So, he needs somebody to help ease his pain for tonight.  (I don't think I'm that girl. lol)

Hello baby, how you doing
Oh yeah, oh that's so nice
I'm sitting here, all alone
Could you just come by for a little while
Because I really need some woman to make love to me tonight
Oh please
I need, I need some woman to make love to me tonight
Can I just say please
You see, my wife took my kids and left me, yes she did
She told me to find someone else
Oh I need, I need you baby
To make love to me tonight
Can I say it again
I need, I need some sweet woman to make love to me tonight
Oh I need, some mama's daughter to make love to me tonight
I don't mind begging honey
You see baby, the place where my heart used to be
There's a big hole and it's waiting for you to fill
Oh I need, I need you baby to make love to me tonight
Can I say please, honey
I need some sweet angel to make love to me tonight
Please, please, please
Now if you can help me, do me a favor
Do it tonight, please baby
Do it tonight, tomorrow might be too late baby
Do it tonight, do it tonight
Oh I'm begging you, honey can't you see I'm begging
Do it tonight, please,do it tonight

I love Marvin!!!

Throwback Thursday: Millie Jackson, McKinley Mitchell, Sir Charles Jones, and Tyrone Davis

It's Throwback Thursday and I love all of these songs.  "Ask Me What You Want" was awesome and hearing it reminds me of the things I was doing back in those days. lol  This "End of The Rainbow" McKinley Mitchell classic is also great and I still love singing along with it.  Sir Charles has been putting out phenomenal music and this remake of Tyrone Davis' "Do You Feel It" is about as great as the original (both versions are below). Boy, do I love music!!
